Matthew G. Brandt

Matthew Brandt is a career law enforcement officer, leader and veteran of the United States Navy. 

Matthew’s first assignment was to the U.S. Navy Ceremonial Guard as a member of President Ronald Reagan’s White House staff.  Matthew was the personal escort for the First Lady of the United States; Mrs. Nancy Reagan to many formal State Dinners and White House receptions.  He later served many years overseas, forward deployed aboard a combatant ship.

Matthew started his now 25 year law enforcement career as a Deputy Sheriff in Grants Pass, Oregon, USA and later went on to work for several years as a Patrol Officer, then Patrol and Detective Sergeant.  He was named “Oregon’s Officer of Year” for his efforts in combating impaired driving.

After the events of September 11, 2001, Matthew became the State of Oregon Commander of the newly formed Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Protective Service.  A uniformed law enforcement agency tasked in the protection and law enforcement oversight for more than 9,000 federal government facilities across the U.S. 

Matthew moved up quickly and was relocated to Washington D.C. to become the agency’s first Chief of the Uniform Division where he oversaw all uniformed law enforcement officers, investigations and patrol functions across the U.S.   Matthew then rotated back to a field assignment and became the Deputy Regional Director in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska area of the U.S. 

Matthew was named the Director of Law Enforcement with the U.S. Department of Commerce, National Marine Fisheries Service where he led a global law enforcement agency charged with the protection of U.S. fishery laws and endangered species acts across the globe. 

From there, Matthew became the Deputy Assistant Director for Operations with the Department of Homeland Security, where he over saw the daily operations of more than 1,200 uniformed officers and Special Agents.  Matthew continues to this day with DHS and is currently the Division Director of the DHS/FPS Operations and Fusion Centers.  

Matthew also works as a professional speaker and has had the pleasure to speak on leadership, team-building and motivational subjects. Matthew has spoken to member countries of INTERPOL in Europe and law enforcement groups as far away as Hawaii and Alaska, Japan, Australia, Papa New Guinea, Guam, and the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific.

Jaroslaw Szklarski

Jaroslaw Szklarski was appointed CTO of the trovicor group at the beginning of 2016. He is responsible for the strategic management of trovicor’s cutting-edge LI technology. He oversees all technical aspects and technological resources for the organisation including R&D, design, development and deployment. Prior to joining trovicor, he was a Unix systems administrator at IBM and Nokia Siemens and before that a Project Integrator at Siemens in Poland. He is a highly skilled engineer holding a masters degree in Electronics and Telecommunications from Poznan University of Technology in Poland.

Dr. Keith Bedford

former General Manager Forensic, Institute of Environmental Science and Research Ltd (ESR), New Zealand

Dr Keith Bedford recently retired from the position of General Manager Forensic with the Institute of Environmental Science and Research Ltd (ESR), New Zealand. ESR is a “Crown Research Institute”, established under an Act of Parliament, and is the main provider of forensic science services to law enforcement agencies and the justice sector in New Zealand. ESR delivers forensic science services under a commercial, fee for service model. Dr Bedford held various management roles in forensic science before being appointed General Manager Forensic in 2008.

He is currently serving as Chief Advisor (Forensic) for ESR.

Dr Bedford completed his degrees, including a PhD in physical-organic chemistry, at the University of Auckland and began his career as a forensic scientist in 1976, in what was then the Chemistry Division of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, initially specialising in illicit drugs and forensic toxicology work.

In 1984/5 he spent a year on secondment with what was then the Metropolitan Police Forensic Science Laboratory in London, UK.

In October 2001 he was awarded a New Zealand Science & Technology Medal for “sustained contribution to forensic science in New Zealand and leadership in delivering enhanced and innovative forensic science services to benefit the New Zealand public”.

Dr Bedford has published and given conference presentations internationally on various topics in drugs and toxicology, forensic science and forensic science management.

He has in the past been a lecturer on the University of Auckland/ESR postgraduate courses in forensic science. He is on the Board of Studies and an external assessor for that programme.

Dr Bedford is a member of the Expert Advisory Committee on Drugs (established under the Misuse of Drugs Act) advising the NZ Minister of Health on drug classification issues.

He was recently honoured with the award of ’Life Membership’ of the Australia New Zealand Forensic Science Society in recognition of his contribution to forensic science in the region. He is also a member of Institute of Chemistry (NZIC) and the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors (ASCLD).
